SINGAPORE CHANGI AIRPORT - IMPLEMENTATION OF “FOLLOW THE GREENS” OPERATIONS IN CHANGI

1  INTRODUCTION

1.1 The purpose of this AIP Supplement is to notify airspace users of the implementation of “Follow the Greens” operations in Changi effective 06 August 2026, 0000UTC.

2  IMPLEMENTATION OF “FOLLOW THE GREENS” OPERATIONS IN CHANGI

2.1 With effect from 06 August 2026, 0000UTC, the "Follow the Greens" procedure at Changi International Airport shall provide pilots with dedicated visual guidance whilst taxiing during night operations and periods of low visibility.
2.2 "Follow the Greens" procedure is not available on runways and rapid exit taxiways. Pilots shall follow ATC verbal turn instructions when vacating the runway.
2.3 When issuing taxi clearance, ATC will use the phraseology "Follow the Greens" together with a verbal clearance limit (hold short point). Pilots shall strictly adhere to these taxi instructions and follow the green taxiway centreline lights until they reach the clearance limit or an illuminated red stopbar. Pilots shall keep a lookout for continuous greens when approaching junctions.
2.4 Pilots shall not taxi ahead if there are no green taxiway centreline lights or when a red stopbar is illuminated. Pilots shall not proceed past the verbal clearance limit without ATC approval, even when no red stopbar is illuminated. In instances of ambiguity or when multiple green light segments are observed, pilots shall stop and seek confirmation before taxiing further. ATC will provide additional verbal guidance.
2.5 Pilots are reminded to exercise caution to ensure sufficient wingtip clearance and separation from other aircraft. When approaching parking stands, pilots shall follow the lead-in line markings, as the taxiway centreline lights may not terminate directly in front of the stands.
2.6 For departures, pilots shall ensure aircraft transponder is operational prior to pushback clearance request. For arrivals, pilots shall ensure aircraft transponder is operational after landing until the aircraft has entered the parking stand.
2.7 When ATC terminates the "Follow the Greens" procedure, they will revert to verbal taxi instructions. Pilots shall then resume their own navigation with reference to taxiway guidance signs and markings.
